Farmers in the Rambe, Moragollagama, and Madahapola villages of Polpithigama told the Daily News recently that their crops were being destroyed by brown planthoppers. They added that the pests have so far destroyed crops in 100 acres of land.
Subasinhagama, Siyambalawewa, Thalakolawewa, Andagalayaya, and Moragolla are also among the affected areas, farmers said. They urged the authorities to take immediate action to address the issue.
