The Health Ministry had decided to conduct random PCR tests and antigen tests on those who are leaving Western Province during the festive season.
According to Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera, these tests would be conducted on those leaving for their villages during the festive season to identify COVID-19 positive cases.

He said that thousands of employees are expected to leave for their villages within the next two weeks for the New Year. A new set of guidelines will be issued to prevent the spread of the pandemic during the festive season.
