TNA does not work, but talks – State Minister Wimlaweera

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentarians speak only on stages to attract innocent people but they cannot do anything for their benefit. They cannot even supply the needy a drop of water. Therefore, the people must not believe their mere words, Wildlife State Minister Wimalaweera Dissanayake said.

He was speaking at a meeting of the Alayadivembu Divisional Secretariat on Friday presided over by Divisional Secretary P. Pabakaran. The Divisional Heads and Predehsya Sabha (PS) Members participated.

State Minister Dissanayake said that when he took over the Provincial Education Ministry in 2008, students did not have pens but guns. “We reformed them and brought them into the democratic process. The then Malinda Rajapaksa Government provided teaching appointments for 7,000 and of them, 5,000 were given to Tamils and Muslims,” he said.

“However, the people voted for Good Governance Government. They should make the right decision to go ahead with us. We set apart Rs.5 million to each GN Division of the DS division and allocated Rs. 3 million to develop each of these GN Divisions. We are analysing development schemes for the next year now. All should co-operate to implement them,” he said.

State Minister Dissanayake also looked in to the issue of elephants, extending drinking water beyond Panankadu and installing ATMs in the areas.

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Ampara District Organiser A. Santhalingam, Alayadivembu Predeseeya Sabha (PS) Chairman T. Kirojatharan and many others spoke.
