Sending more skilled workers for foreign employment is very important and economically beneficial to the country, said State Minister Kanaka Herath.
He stated this, while participating in the launching ceremony of the interview and the physical fitness test held for the selection of youths for the employment opportunities in Japan at the Bathambura Maheepala Herath Stadium in Rambukkana recently.
The interview and the physical fitness test was conducted on the supervision of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) following two training workshops held in the area.
The State Minister said it is expected to begin a Japanese Language training programme within the Kegalle District immediately.
He pointed out that Sri Lankan migrant workers in the Middle East send a large amount of foreign exchange to the country every year. SLBFE officers and several others participated on this occasion.
