SJB donates digital equipment to Kadawatha Dharmaraja Vidyalaya

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasaon Monday commenting on the ‘Sakwala’ educational equipment distribution programme, initiated by Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) highlighted the importance of providing digital equipment to children in less-privileged schools.

He said the SJB’s objective is to expand this programme in the years to come to improve the knowledge of Information Technology (IT) of students in our Motherland.

Premadasa was speaking at Dharmaraja Vidyalaya, Mahara, Kadawatha after donating digital equipment including five brand new computers, a laser printing machine and a digital smart board worth Rs.846,000.00.

He said while expanding the knowledge of IT, children should also broaden their English Language skills since it will immensely help them enter the future digitalized world.

The Opposition Leader was given a rousing welcome by the school principal, students, teachers and well-wishers when he arrived to make the donation. He said over 20 schools countrywide have so far been provided with computers and digital devices by SJB and this programme will be continued in the years to come.

He said as the world has now been converted into a digital era, it is our duty to extend a helping hand to our children to learn IT skills.

Premadasa said the SJB has so far donated over 30 buses to schools in the country. He said the SJB is the only Opposition in the Sri Lankan political history that fulfills the needs of children and people by donating educational equipment and medical equipment. The Opposition Leader also spoke about the SJB's Husma programme that was initiated to provide medical equipment for needy hospitals. Commenting on the current political atmosphere, Premadasa said he would one day accept the country’s leadership only with the blessings of people and would never betray his policies for petty personal gains. The Opposition Leader visited the building where the digital smart boards and computers were installed and saw the children interestingly engaged in computer work.
