Leftt arm spinner Pathum Vihanga does Wattala Antonians proud

Fifth year player, , Left hand lower order bat, Left arm leg spinner, Safe fielder at any position and Gampaha District Squad, Member Pathum Vihanga Randeniya has brought honour and glory to his alma mater St.Anthony’s College Wattala with his deeds in the field of Cricket.

Pathum who hails from Kerawalapitiya Hendala was born on 20 th November 2003 and admitted to St.Anthony’s College Wattala in 2009 when the Present Rector Rev. Mal Fernando was at the helm of the school and her first class teacher was Mrs.Nayana. As he was keen on cricket his parents Nirupa Tharindu and Sujeevi Priyanka made arrangements to admit him to the School Cricket Academy and he came under Mr.Vincent. In 2015 he attended under 15 cricket practices under Mr.Sunanda and the MIC and Prefect of Games were Mr.Ashen and Rev. Fr. Sajith respectively and got selected for the team. In his first year in five outings he claimed six wickets and in his second year he captured 21 wickets with two five wicket hauls.

Then in 2017 he was an automatic choice for the under 15 team and bagged 20 wickets with 2 five wicket hauls and in his second year he took 16 scalps with one five wicket hall and got selected to the Gampaha District Team and his coach was M.Niroshan.

As an under 17 player in his first year he claimed 18 wickets and in the following year there was no under 17 tournament and his Coach was Safraz Nawaz and MIC was Rev.Fr.Nuwan.

His first year in the first eleven team was in 2017/18 season and he captured 54 wickets with five wicket hauls and in his second year he took 24 wickets with one five wicket haul. Then in 2020/21 they participated in the Limited Over Tournament and they reached up to Quarter Finals and in the following season there was no tournament due to Coronavirus and in 2021/22 Limited Over Tournament he got seven wickets for 80 runs.
