Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga has instructed his Ministry Secretary to conduct a full audit of all the institutions under the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing.
In a discussion held yesterday (04) at the Urban Development Authority located in Battaramulla, Sethsiripaya, the Minister said that he had already received complaints about alleged irregularities in all the 21 institutions under his ministry during the previous Government. The Minister also said that he took this decision because he could not deal with the garbage left by some former Ministers.
“During the previous Government, the National Housing Development Authority has printed posters worth Rs. 137 million. A Court case is pending in this regard. We can’t even destroy the posters because of litigation. Those posters just rot. We are subjecting these institutions to a full audit to investigate such frauds, corruption and irregularities,” he added.
