SLC distributes cricket balls to 325 schools

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association (SLSCA), commenced the distribution of cricket balls to 325 schools playing in the ongoing Under-19 Schools Cricket Tournament.

Once completed, a total of 7680 cricket balls will be distributed to schools playing in Divisions 1, 2, and 3 of the ongoing Under 19 tournament.

The one-day tournament, which commenced on September 5 will be completed on November 5 and the two-day tournament will start on December 20 after the completion of the ordinary level examinations. SLC already made several development activities for the school cricket junior and senior fraternity from age groups 13, 15, 17, and 19. The Head of the National cricket Operations SLC Chintaka Edirimanne said the school cricket structure has to get more power to develop future cricket while SLC has made all arrangements to give support to school cricket.

The distribution of the first set of cricket balls took place at a ceremony held at the Lumbini College, Colombo recently, with the participation of officials from SLC, SLSCA and the Ministry of Education. (D.R)
