Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR), in another attempt to develop the standard of match officials in the country, has appointed veteran referee Wimal Perera as the Match Official Reviewer with immediate effect for a period of one year.
Perera’s main job description will be to do a review of all rugby games organised by SLR and submit a report to the Match Review Committee of SLR weekly with a recommendation to forward it for the Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Referees.
Perera has acquired several qualifications over the years at international level having functioned in the capacity of World Rugby Coach of match officials’ level, World Rugby Licensed Educator, and World Rugby Accredited Citing Officer.
In addition, he has provided his services as a CMO for Asia Rugby for over 15 years and is a former President of the Referees Society of Sri Lanka and Asia Rugby Referees Society.
